Working for a healthy environment in the City of White Bear Lake and surrounding communities

Welcome to the Friends Blog

Welcome to Friends of White Bear Area Environment blog, an interactive newsource for energetic citizens locally and globally, and headquartered in communities abundant in resources north of St. Paul, MN.

This blog is provided by citizen leaders bringing to the forefront of public policy and decision-making the grave problems of our urban resources.  Read and learn and bring to the attention of your local government officials the imperative of change the must occur in public expenditures and policy that are at the expense of our environment.  Our biggest motivation is sustainability, a better world for future generations, and the widespread loss of connection between children and nature that has occurred in urban and suburban areas.  We support the Children & Nature Network, www.childrenandnature.org,  determined to build a movement to reconnect children and nature through natural places in neighborhoods.

Our children must see community leaders totally rethink the effect of shared public resources on the environment and restructure to restore and make healthy neighborhood ponds, wetlands, and woods for our children and local ecology.  Our children must see actions in the home change too, treading lightly on the earth from the yard to the lights.   To this end, we highlight two major public policy initiatives:  City of Chicago http://egov.cityofchicago.org/webportal/COCWebPortal/COC_EDITORIAL/GreenAlleyHandbook.pdf
