White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
April 2, 2008 White Bear Press features the citizen of the year award from Ramsey Washington Metro Watershed District to Cindy Johnson and her family. Not only have they enjoyed keeping stormwater runoff water on their property by properly placed rain gardens, but they have gotten their neighbors into the act too.
Hiner’s Pond is one of 12 water bodies in the City of White Bear Lake receiving pollutant discharges from city street storm sewers. In addition to residents doing their part to help clean up Hiner’s Pond, the City will need to do their part too by diverting street water away from the catch basins and into rain gardens.
